Today, Zipy had the honor of meeting an incredible group of people who are visiting Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica from all parts of North America. What makes them incredible is the fact that breast cancer has invaded their lives and through “Little Pink Houses of Hope” a non-profit organization, they are having an opportunity to enjoy a simple pleasure, like a vacation in the tropics and partaking in the activities Manuel Antonio has to offer.

Grupo Recreación y Salud is a group of senior citizens who meet weekly, every Wednesday from 8-9, for exercise classes at Comité de Deportes next to INCE in downtown Quepos. Caja funded this project, however 3 years ago, the funding stopped, but Dinia continues to hold classes for our local senior citizens in spite of her busy schedule because she knows how important it is for them and how much they enjoy the time together.

Marina Pez Vela, in Quepos Costa Rica, hosted the last two days of the four day fishing tournament for the 20th Anniversary of the Offshore World Championship. Forty-five boats from thirty-five countries participated in this prestigic event with the most Pacific Sailfish caught in one day (271) on April 29th.

After gaining certification in National Swimming Pools at INA institute of Costa Rica as well as training abroad, he was ready to begin a new journey.

On May 1, 2019 the first Seniors' Gathering was held at Chocolate Caffé and Patisserie located on the first floor of Hotel Papa’s Papalotes in Quepos, Costa Rica. An enthusiastic group was excited to listen to and observe Samuel demonstrate his bread making techniques, using only fresh and chemical free ingredients.

We celebrated with a fabulous fashion show showcasing the unique bathing suit designs of Katia of Ummará. Her shop is located in the heart of Quepos, Costa Rica where she customizes bathing suits for any figure, gender, and taste. My mom bought me one and now I am the envy of all of the rainforest critters. Chris Lara, choreographer, stylist, and fashion designer worked hard to prepare the models and put together quite the show!

SEMANA SANTA - Holy Week Procession in Quepos, Costa Rica.
The Catholic Church in each town organizes traditional masses and processions which take place on Holy Wednesday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Each procession is a dramatic reenactment of Jesus' journey through Jerusalem to his crucifixion and resurrection.

The seats were beginning to fill as the orchestra was setting up and tuning their instruments and five minutes later, the wonderful music of Verdi silenced the crowd, then, of course, Beethoven with the finale of John Williams’ Star Wars. As the orchestra moved from one piece to the next, the confidence became stronger and the music more powerful. What a wonderful event to end a beautiful day in the little town of Quepos, Costa Rica.
