Manuel grew up in a home that was concerned about nature preservation and respectful of the wildlife. His father had taught him about all creatures, large and small, living in Costa Rica. He was faccinated and eager to learn more. Manuel attributes the respect that he has for nature to  his early surfing days. Often, when on a secret beach, waiting for that perfect wave he used to watch the Macaws and Toucans up above and the dolphins in the ocean.

As an independent naturalist guide for the past 20 years, Manuel was passionate about what once was a hobby and now a career and wanted to open his own tour company. He recently became the proud owner and CEO of Manuel’s Tours, with a team of 5 tour guides.

As a proud Costa Rican he feels honored to share the animals in their natural habitat of Manuel Antonio Park with his clients. He explained that he wants to create memorable experiences to his clients, showing them all the things that are there but hidden for our eyes. And then have that moment when the lizard or that sloth moves and becomes visible. That is what enchants the tourists and they want more. He takes pictures for the clients which they take back home, share with friends and family and, that is what gives him pleasure, giving forward and knowing that it was an unforgettable adventure.

In a short time, Manuel’s Tours has already got a large clientel to which he responds personally. With a smile Manuel spoke of a small boy on one of his early tours, who loves sloths and Manuel was able to teach him and the group all about the arboreal mammals and their behavior. The boy was able to see many sloths that day even a mama and a baby. The family posted that it was the most incredible experience they and their son had. These testimonials are what makes Manuel more passionate.
