What You Can Expect
An untamed mountain covered in rainforest will let us safely visit the only walk-able crater in Costa Rica.
Our day will be very diverse. Along our drive to the volcano we will visit one of the country’s most beautiful waterfalls and if you’d like to, you can bring your swimsuits and swim under the majestic water curtain.
Next visit is to the crater at Miravalles where we will see lots of geothermal activity and sense the mighty power from below us. We will have a volcanic mud bath and relax in the hot springs before lunch and then experience the tropical rainforest on a moderate hike along some breathtaking hanging-bridges and three more waterfalls!
Bubbling mud pools:
The bubbling mud pools are holes that contain clay mud. These mud pools also have sulfured thermal waters all with different temperatures: 80?C, 100?C, and 200?C. This mud is odorless and can be found in three different colors: gray, brown and yellow. The coloration indicates how deep the pool is. The brown mud indicates a depth of two meters, the gray mud a depth of one meter and the yellow mud indicates the mud is from the surface and is full of sulfur.
You can select the clay in which you want to bath and then obtain it from the bubbling mud pool. Whilst waiting 15 or 20 minutes for the clay to cool you down, you can enjoy one of the greatest marvels in the world. After bathing in this volcanic mud your skin will be left feeling fresh and smooth.
Don’t forget to bring a swimming suit, hiking shoes, sandals, change of clothing, binoculars, camera, sun block, money, and a hat.
