What You Can Expect

Only 30 minutes away from the Manuel Antonio / Quepos area, we?ll run a section of the river that stretches from the town of Villanueva in the mountains to the Llamar?n Bridge on the road from Quepos to Dominical. Over a 6-mile section, we?ll raft rapids such as La Pi?ata, El Cesar and Robin Hood. Prior to the river, you?ll get a private tour of a local organic spice farm! This is a half-day tour for all the senses.

ITINERARY

Our trip starts at your hotel, where our minibus will pick you up and take you to the put-in of the Naranjo River, passing through the towns of Naranjito and Villanueva. Once there, we offer a tour inside the tour at an organic spice farm.

Here, we show our guests exotic heliconias, the importance of pejibaye for pre-colonial natives, vanilla, cinnamon, lemongrass, and allspice among others. Once at the river, the guides will gear you up and after our safety talk, we will start our descent maneuvering the rapids of the mighty Naranjo River.

The section we run goes from the town of Villanueva in the mountains to the Llamar?n Bridge on the road from Quepos to Dominical. On these 10 kilometers?of whitewater, we will run rapids such as La Pi?ata, El Cesar and Robin Hood. We will break halfway through the run for a snack of fresh fruit, juice, water, and cookies.

On the second half of our run, the river opens up on the Pacific flatlands, giving us the opportunity to enjoy the view and see many species of birds such as the ringed kingfisher and the white ibis. With a little bit of luck, we might be able to see one of the crocodiles that live on the river.
