A good value hotel and nice location for our vacation close to beautiful beaches and Manuel Antonio park. The setting of the hotel built into the mountain is nice. Plenty of other tourist attractions at this location.
“Fabulous First Stay in CR”

Spent the first three days of our Costa Rican sojourn at Las Cascadas and could not recommend it more highly. It is tucked away on the hills around Quepos, an authentic CR town, and a short drive to Manuel Antonio. Gary and Catalina were the most wonderful hosts, hospitable, knowledgeable about the area, accommodating, and simply nice to be around. They set up all the tours we took while in Manuel Antonio and recommended some parks that were off the beaten path and well worth the trip. The breakfasts by the pool were fresh and delicious (The coconut/banana pancakes are to die for.). The rooms were attractively appointed, clean, and bug-free. I personally don't understand the negative reviews. Gary and Catalina have spent a lot of time renovating the hotel and it was a joy. Don't hesitate.

On our way from San José to the National Park of Corcovado, we decided to stop in Quepos/Manuel Antonio to rest. We hoped to "wing it" and to find a last minute hotel: a challenging choice. In Manuel Antonio - unless you can afford one of the VIP structures run by walkie talkies and desire an environment "detached" from reality - most hotels are sprinkled along the main road, home to cars and not walking distance from the characteristic town of Quepos. After much hopping around, approaching night, we were finally shown a map and eyed, "Las Casacades". This hotel is a hidden treasure. Hidden up the lush hill adjacent to Quepos, with a view of the ocean, this is a structure of 12 units where you will feel at home and will no longer wish to leave; a perfect homebase from where to visit and explore the surroundings. Pristine clean, spacious colorful apartments, surrounded by nature and warmly decorated, at "Las Cascades" you'll be welcomed by a Canadian/Costa Rican family who will make you wonder if you should spend the rest of your trip with them. Wifi, kitchen appliances, beautiful light and all that is needed will make your vacation or business trip a true delight. The penthouse has water running over rocks in the living room beside a king size bed. If with many children, you can opt for the larger units that sleep an entire family comfortably. All rooms and apartments are located up the side of a lush hill, beside the soothing sound of a waterfall, and around a small pool ,next to the family-run breakfast/restaurant area. From this hotel, you can walk down to the village of Quepos and visit the local market running along the coastline where you can purchase and discover new delicious, tropical fruits. At the market you will also find fresh chamomile and will learn that if you have trouble sleeping, the heart of lettuce, boiled in water, will lullaby you to sleep. During the day you can go fishing in the nearby town, travel to one of the many beaches or go and visit the white-faced monkeys in the National Park of Manuel Antonio which, though busy, are interesting, and their beaches are a must. Once back at "Las Cascadas", a dinner at the nearby restaurant where the ticos sing karokee, passionate love songs about love dreams and dramas, will make you smile reminding you about the restless universal power of love. From "Las Cascadas" you can then comfortably head further south to visit the dolphins and whales (if at the right time) and, if adventurous, head all the way down to Sierpe and Drake Bay, to the rare and remote National Park of Corcovado where nature rules and will reset life's priorities. On the way back, stop again in "Las Cascadas" to re-group and to gently, eventually, head back north. "Las Cascadas" is a must whether you're heading to Corcovado or directly and only to Quepos. "Las Cascadas" is a home. Thank you Gary, thank you Catalina.
Stayed August 2014, traveled as a couple
Las Cascadas was a great stop near Manuel Antonio with a comfy bed and a spacious room. The pool was nice and quiet and the food was really excellent. The room had a bit of a mildew-ey smell, but once the air conditioning was on it dissipated quickly. The hosts are really quite friendly and passionate about their place, taking great care to make sure we were enjoying our stay.
