The canton stands out for its high production of handicrafts and combining an old style with a modern style in its cities and villas.
The rainforest of the Braulio Carrillo National Park has two main characteristics: the vast virgin forest and the road to get there. This road offers some of the most impressive views of Costa Rica's natural settings, and is one of the main reasons why this area is protected. Despite being in the middle of the jungle of the country, it is one of the busiest roads.
It has several volcanic craters that can be best seen in the morning since in the afternoon these impressive natural wonders are covered by dense fog.
