Vásquez de Coronado rises out of the suburbs of San José to encompass a major portion of the Cordillera Central and Braulio Carrillo National Park. The Río Sucio,forms the western boundary of the canton, while the Río Macho, Río Zurquí and Río Patria establish the canton's limits to the east. The northern tip of the canton is marked by the confluence of the Sucio and Patria rivers.
On May 15 of each year, San Isidro Labrador is celebrated with the traditional popular celebrations in which there are carousels, games, food sales, among others. Exhibitions of livestock, handicrafts, agricultural products, and industrial products of the area are organized, the celebration culminates in front of the Church with the passing of animals, floats, winemakers, horsemen and any other domestic animal
On November 15, the Anniversary of the Canton is celebrated, with the aim of organizing activities that rescue costa rican traditions, for example a turn with traditional games such as the witch, the panchito, cigarettes, the rabbits, among others. Also cultural activities that give participation to communities and young people in schools and colleges.
