In Jacó, tickets sales are behind Pizza Hut. If you are leaving early in the morning, it's best to buy your tickets the day before or if you depart on a Sunday or a holiday buy them a few days ahead of time.
In San José, the terminal is Tracopa on Calle 5 between Avenidas 18 & 20.

There are two new types of bus routes from Jacó on Costa Rica's Central Pacific coast. If you need to go to the airport from Jacó Beach, please make sure you tell the ticket seller. Due to the new highway, there are now two new routes to San José.The old route, now considered the "direct" route, takes the new Caldera highway directly to San Jose via Ciudad Colon. It does not make the Alajuela stop at the San José International Airport. If you have the time, take this route and then catch a bus from the Coca Cola station to the airport.
If you are pressed for time, you should make sure you have the correct route. Even the locals are still confused about what is a "direct," "express," and "normal" route. During busy days, the buses add "extras" which is another bus leaving usually 30 minutes after the standard scheduled bus.
Each bus leaves on time. Travel time each way is approximately 2 hours 45 mins. (old route). Express buses usually leave directly from the station in Jacó and DO NOT travel through town for pickups. You may not want to depend on the bus if your flight leaves within 3 hours of the scheduled bus arrival as traffic varies greatly. Telephone SJO: 2223-1109 Jacó: 2643-3135
