What You Can Expect

Enjoy one of the optional activities such as kayaking Situated along the Costa Rican Bird Route, Cinco Ceibas Rainforest Reserve, and Adventure Park is a private eco-tourism park that aims to protect native wildlife habitats and support sustainable farming in Costa Rica. Your full-day adventure begins with early morning pickup at your San Jose hotel and a roughly 2.5-hour drive north in a minivan.

When you arrive at the reserve, follow a naturalist guide along a nearly 1-mile (1.2-km) elevated boardwalk made of reforested Honduran pine and carefully constructed so as not to disturb the pristine habitat. Gain a unique perspective on the magnificent ecosystem and admire giant ceiba trees, many of which are hundreds of years old. Keep an eye out for red-eyed tree frogs, bats, toucans, green macaws and parades of leaf-cutter ants. Howler monkeys may provide a wild soundtrack for your stroll!

Rejuvenate with a lunch of typical Costa Rican cuisine at the Cinco Ceibas open-air caf?, where all meals are prepared on site using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Enjoy views of the lush jungle greenery and the Rio Cuarto while you dine.

After lunch, choose from three different on-site adventures: kayaking on the Rio Cuarto, horseback riding or touring the reserve in an oxen-pulled wagon. (See Itinerary below for detailed activity descriptions.) Make use of lockers and changing rooms to stay comfortable throughout the day, and enjoy an energizing snack of a sandwich and beverage later on.

At the end of your day at Cinco Ceibas, relax on the return drive to San Jose, where your tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.
