If you plan on coming to Quepos or Manuel Antonio for a vacation, fishing should definitely be on your to-do list in order to really have the full Costa Rican adventure.
The locally owned and operated company will provide both the novice and the seasoned fishing expert with a memorable experience.
The captain, Elier, was born and raised on Damas Island. He started as a mate and then graduated to a captain on a shrimp boat for many years. Later he earned experience in the tourism business, where he researched and learned that there is a need for a smaller and more personable fishing tour company. Being a craftsman, Elier started to build his boat in hopes of becoming an independent fishing tour operator.
In 2014, Elier opened Soleil Sports Fishing, offering both ocean and river tours. Elier and his mate selected staff from the experienced crew at Marina Pez Vela to accommodate the clients by offering a hands-off or a hands-on fishing experience. They suggest trolling for the client desirous of catching a tuna or a marlin or jigging for those who wish to sample their catch in their kitchen or to have a restaurant prepare it for them.
While on the canopy covered boat, bait, water, soda and fruit are provided to the half-day clients and lunch is also provided to the full-day clients. On the smaller boat, Elier and his mate, both bilingual, are available to share local fishing tricks of the trade, stories, and information on the area. They ensure you will have the trip of your life!
The fully insured company has a 21’ boat and in the high season will launch a second 24’ boat to meet the demands of their clientele.
