A great event came to a close at Bar Jolly Roger. Lee Mercer and Ask Zipy tallied the results and were ready to announce the 1st Annual Wing Rock Fest Hot Sauce contest winner and second and third place runner ups.
A crowed gathered at Bar Jolly Roger’s in anticipation of the results. MA Deli took third place and Ocho Tejas grabbed second. Ultimately Rachel took home the bragging rights of the overall winner for Azuleo. As a special prize, Lee announced that the grand prize winner’s sauce will be featured at Bar Jolly Roger’s for a month. Rachel was elated! She stated that the “Moroccan Masochist” is a traditional Moroccan recipe from her family and she is proud that now it will be used as a wing sauce at Bar Jolly Roger. Rachel shared that she tasted all the sauces and they were all very tasty but she does agree with the results of MA Deli and Ocho Tejas sauces having earned the top recognition.
When asked what Azuleo will do at the 2nd Annual Hot Sauce Contest, Rachel laughed and stated that Azuleo loves and supports the community but they are also very competitive and they will be ready to wow everyone next year.
In speaking with MA Deli and Ocho Tejas, they will also be ready for next year’s competition and give Azuleo a run for their money. Olivier stating that he is going to switch up his flavors and add more heat!
The raffle winners were ecstatic to win wonderful prizes from our fabulous sponsors! Fabbody Total Wellness offered a buy one get one massage. Pura Sombra gave a tin of organic sunscreen that is locally made and reef safe. Costa Rica Escape Bus offered two free passes to the pirate escape room, The Crimson Storm. Mademoiselle Salon gave a free haircut, and the Jet Ski Boys offered a tour for up to four people on the Rich Coast Experience.
Bar Jolly Roger and Ask Zipy would like to extend their deepest gratitude to those who came out to celebrate the event from near and far and especially to the fabulous sponsors mentioned above who made this event as special as it was.
