Zipy met with the President to discuss the Jardines Del Rio Christmas festivities and opening celebrations on December 21, 2018.
On November 26, 2018, Ask Zipy and team, Jardines Del Rio community representatives, Dowglas Espanoza Fernandez and Guiselle Mora Naranjo met with the Chamber of Commerce president Harry Bodaan to discuss the Christmas festivities for the community.
Harry welcomed us with opened arms and wanted to be educated on the event. Zina Oster enlightened him about the ceremonies of planting a small tree to begin to blossom with the community, empowering the community by the children decorating the tree and one of the 6 park grounds to make it their own. To learn more, Harry asked for the background of this community.
Dowglas explained that most of the members in the community are survivors of Hurricane Otto from Quepos area, waiting for housing since 2008.
“The influence between the precursor to the depression and a low-pressure area in the eastern Pacific caused flooding in Costa Rica that killed seven people. In Parrita, an ambulance carrying four people was struck by a fallen tree. Flooding isolated about 6,900 people in 75 communities.” (Wikipedia)
The remainder of the residents are the elderly, single mothers and people with disability from Quepos eligible for housing. Dowglas explained that it is a safe community that is enthusiastic to have a home and a community that they are proud to be of and wants to make it their own.
Finding it a worthwhile venture to assist, Harry suggested that a proposal is written by the community and he promised to present it to the Chamber of Commerce board for approval.
Thank you for your consideration, Harry
