In 2002, a local family decided to challenge the chain stores and open up a supermarket and offer conventional as well as specialty products to their customers.

With three locations to choose from, in the center of Manuel Antonio near the football field or at the Espadilla beach or in downtown Quepos, Joseth is the place to shop for everything you may need, may you be local or a tourist alike.

I remember staying in Manuel Antonio in 2006 at one of the lovely hotel, my husband and I chose to stay in MA and fill our pantry for our two-week stay. The hotel suggested Joseth’s as the place to go with all the conveniences of North America and then some. I was amazed when we walked in. The selection was great, full meat selection, as the produce, frozen foods, the selection teas and coffees, cereal, the liquor was full of international selection of local beer, hard liquor, wine and aperitifs, and the snacks. After purchasing some kitchen utensils and groceries, we asked the cashier to call us a cab, she suggested that one of the staff will deliver our purchases to the hotel. Hey, we jumped at the chance and had our groceries delivered at a nominal fee.

In 2018, Joseth’s market has expanded not just by opening more stores but the variety of goods offered. You can choose from a selection of souvenirs, toys, sports, and beach supplies, extensive kitchen supplies and as per the foods, anywhere from waffles, hash browns to lobster tails in the freezer, extensive fresh meat selection and wow Jif and Skippy peanut butter and jelly. The alcohol selection has doubled in size, liquor, aperitifs, Chilean, Argentinian, American and the classic European selection of wine to champagne, coolers, regular local, international and draft beers, all the mixes and all the snacks. For a local grocery store to have such a variety, oh almost forgot, pet supplies and food, what more can you ask for, can be delivered to your permanent or temporary home alike.
