Parrita has beautiful landscapes and beaches and has a friendly climate.
In Parrita agriculture and tourism are important. Due to the problems that arose in the commercialization of bananas, as a result of World War II, the Banana Company of Costa Rica, since 1945 began to experiment with the cultivation of oil palm; which was initially planted in the Palo Seco estate. In 1951, the first African palm processing plant was established in Damas ,since 1956 only this agricultural product is grown.
There is production of oil palm, pineapple, banana, melon, watermelon and rice. Also at one time it was an important area of aquaculture and livestock farming.
If you are looking to do some eco tourism, Parrita is the perfect place for you. The nearby Damas estuary mangrove forest is home to a wide variety of animals, including crocodiles, pumas, the coatimundi and many monkey species.
Damas Island, can be accessed by boat from a dock just 12 kilometers south of Parrita on Highway 34.
The Parrita River's rapids are ideal for those just learning how to whitewater raft, and can be an exciting way to view some of the marine wildlife and birds in the area.
Sport fishing is another popular activity for visitors to Parrita, as tuna, marlin, wahoo and snook can all be found in bunches in the nearby Pacific Ocean.
