Restaurateurs around the world have worked hard in developing their culinary style and offer their delicacies to their patrons. Many of us appreciate the restaurant maintaining their consistency of dining. I know I can go to Creperie De Cluny for their incredible crepes on the west bank of Paris or filet mignon followed by a souffle at Bonaparte’s in Montreal or Rhodes’s Taverna Dimitris for their lemon soup or baklava. I can have the same meal today as I had five or ten years ago. Similarly, Z’s Gastro Bar in Quepos, Costa Rica has always been consistent with their delicious menu. When it comes to special groups, booking the restaurant or just a table, they will create a menu for the occasion. If you want to have chef Bonnie prepare a feast of your catch of the day, she will prepare a feast. A group coming to Manuel Antonio or Quepos, may it be a fishing tournament or a group from faraway places will dine on authentic Asian or Middle Eastern delicacy. Z’s steps up and delivers.
I had an opportunity to be invited to a Passover dinner on April 19th at Z’s Gastro Bar. Well, to my surprise it was truly a Passover feast, from the Seder plate to the gefilte fish and red haroset. Chef Bonnie and her crew did a fabulous job going outside the box to prepare a meal that is not on any restaurant’s menu in Costa Rica, that I know of. They even provided Passover wine and of course matzo’s.
There was a group of ladies from Israel in attendance who ran the service Israeli style and were amazed with the traditional Ashkenazi meal. The entire experience was incredible, thanks’ to all the staff of Z’s
