One Tribe Hostel - A little oasis in the center of Manuel Antonio

Among the shops and restaurants in a busy part of Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, Zipy found a hidden little oasis offering its guests tranquility and serenity while visiting the enchanting Pacific coast of Central America. Alex, a young woman from Canada, wanted a change from the humdrum of city life and after some deliberation, she decided to move to Costa Rica and make Manuel Antonio her home. Just below the street level, next to Super Joseth’s grocery store, is a serene property with four buildings among fruit trees, flowering bushes and beautiful gardens of herbs and local flowers. Zipy wandered through the property and was in awe.

Marina Pez Vela Hosts the 20th Anniversary of the Offshore World Championship

Marina Pez Vela, in Quepos Costa Rica, hosted the last two days of the four day fishing tournament for the 20th Anniversary of the Offshore World Championship. Forty-five boats from thirty-five countries participated in this prestigic event with the most Pacific Sailfish caught in one day (271) on April 29th.

Restaurateurs around the world have worked hard in developing their culinary style and offer their delicacies to their patrons. Many of us appreciate the restaurant maintaining their consistency of dining. I know I can go to Creperie De Cluny for their incredible crepes on the west bank of Paris or filet mignon followed by a souffle at Bonaparte’s in Montreal or Rhodes’s Taverna Dimitris for their lemon soup or baklava. I can have the same meal today as I had five or ten years ago. Similarly, Z’s Gastro Bar in Quepos, Costa Rica has always been consistent with their delicious menu. When it comes to special groups, booking the restaurant or just a table, they will create a menu for the occasion. If you want to have chef Bonnie prepare a feast of your catch of the day, she will prepare a feast. A group coming to Manuel Antonio or Quepos, may it be a fishing tournament or a group from faraway places will dine on authentic Asian or Middle Eastern delicacy. Z’s steps up and delivers.

We celebrated with a fabulous fashion show showcasing the unique bathing suit designs of Katia of Ummará. Her shop is located in the heart of Quepos, Costa Rica where she customizes bathing suits for any figure, gender, and taste. My mom bought me one and now I am the envy of all of the rainforest critters. Chris Lara, choreographer, stylist, and fashion designer worked hard to prepare the models and put together quite the show!

Celebrating World Art Day at Marina Pez Vela in Quepos, Costa Rica

The seats were beginning to fill as the orchestra was setting up and tuning their instruments and five minutes later, the wonderful music of Verdi silenced the crowd, then, of course, Beethoven with the finale of John Williams’ Star Wars. As the orchestra moved from one piece to the next, the confidence became stronger and the music more powerful. What a wonderful event to end a beautiful day in the little town of Quepos, Costa Rica.
